Metal Plaques stolen from Memorial Wall
Wall is a victim of metal theft
September 24, 2007 -- Burien
It was recently reported that four large metal plaques were stolen from the face of the Des Moines Memorial Drive Memorial Wall. As is common in many places around the country, this theft of metal was a terrible loss to the community and shocked many people.
A police report has been filed, however it is not anticipated that the metal plaques will be recovered. Installed in 1963 by King County, the plaques were a unique design. Research is underway to find design drawings so that the plaques can be replaced.
